It’s A Profit Deal

Not all registries are cut from the same cloth, some are trying to be creative and market. The thing that remains tricky is who will remember .gallery three years from now ? Who will think it makes sense to pay $1,000 a year renewal for an extension that a small fraction of the online world knows about ?

Domainers Choice Award Winners

Quiet Champion
So many work silently and tirelessly behind the scenes with legislation, ICANN, etc. This could also be a domain professional that has shown success through hard work and diligence. This person never expects to receive accolades, rewards nor do they demand recognition for themselves.

New-style WEB addresses

New-style web addresses allow domain owners to start capturing relevant, pre-qualified traffic which drives up the value of the domain name. By securing domain names based upon popular search terms, established internet businesses, start-up business and domain investors can quickly increase the value of their domain names and websites. For example, www.football.webcam or www.sportsequipment.bid or www.energydrinks.trade will help drive traffic and build business value.

Alternatives for .COM : Think .GLOBAL (Part 2)

Very soon and prior for these domain names to be available at GoDaddy, It will be possible to acquire a domain name that suits your needs: the .GLOBAL registry is offering a live Premium domain auction in June, the 24. Within two weeks, 80 generic .GLOBAL super premium domains will be auctioned and their list is available here. I personally like shipping.global quite a lot. Prior to making a choice, I must admit that I also looked at .website and .web but I ended wondering whether a reader needs to be reminded he is viewing a website: I can see no identity in those two.

Your Inquiry May Lead to a Sale Listing

I have two recommendations that may help you in a situation like this. The first is to make a good / reasonable offer for the domain name. If you make a lowball offer, the owner is likely to pass on it because there’s no need to sell a long-held domain name for a low price. The second recommendation is to put a time limit on your offer.

How Many New gTLD Domains Do You Want to Buy in 2014?

As far as those 100-ish new gTLDs are concerned, I’m willing to keep them renewed even in the absence of sales and even if I’ll see no sales this year, I’ll probably add to my portfolio in 2015.

Too late to apply for your new gTLD? Register a Premium domain name!

I often think about all of these brands who did not apply for their domain name extension "because it was too expensive". Some even dropped it like the .HILTON new gTLD application. I still do not understand the reason of this. Of course, it is expensive to apply for a new gTLD but what about when you could have applied and now realize that you have missed the train.

Frank Schilling is the biggest registrant of new TLDs

Coming in at number one on the list is Frank Schilling’s North Sound Names, which registered tens of thousands of names in his own TLDs in order to sell them at higher prices.

New gTLD Case Study, Update #3: Dot Social

Social lending will in my opinion be receiving more and more exposure, I think the domains represent a good fit for the dot social extension. My asking price for Loans.Social will be $2,880, whereas I will be asking $1,880 each for Lending.Social and Borrowing.Social.

Alternatives for .COM ? (Part 1)

There are plenty of new domain names and if .COM never had any real identity or true meaning, it is quite possible that new gTLDs may bring new ideas to those who want to acquire a global identity without focusing on a country, a niche market, a specific industry, a community or just anything which does not cover "the world". I made a list of these new domain names with potential to replace .COM and I believe that the alternatives might be in the list down below.http://www.circleid.com/posts/20140601_alternatives_for_com_part_1/

When it Comes To Marketing New gTLDs – It’s Not What You Say But How You Say It

You need to have different marketing messages for different prospects, cheesy and misleading does not work when it comes to marketing to domain investors. Neither does over the top hypebolic statements about the merits of something that is no longer rare or special.http://tldinvestors.com/2014/06/when-it-comes-to-marketing-new-gtlds-its-not-what-you-say-but-how-you-say-it.html

Interpreting Rick’s Decision of Registering New gTLDs

Earlier today, Mike Berkens wrote a post about the fact that Rick Schwartz registered 500+ new gTLD domains and a lot of people were surprised. In my opinion, there’s absolutely nothing to be surprised about and I’ll try to explain why.
